Russian Ambassador Denis Alipov issued a reminder to the West this week: an “existential threat” to Russia would allow for the use of nuclear weapons under its doctrine.
It is this policy, he argued, that makes a Russian defeat in Ukraine impossible, despite billions in Western aid to Kyiv.
“You can’t, you know, take over us in this conflict simply because of our nuclear weapons,” Alipov stated at an event.
He was dismissive of European hopes for a different outcome, labeling them “childish behavior” and “unprofessional.”
He also claimed that President Donald Trump “understands” the “futility” of the war, asserting Trump knows the conflict is “lost by Ukraine and the West.”
