Investors are keeping a close eye on the potential diplomatic developments at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, where there is speculation about possible discussions between the United States and Iran.
Oil markets reacted with Brent crude futures for November climbing 1.7% to approximately $102 a barrel. Similarly, US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude for October saw a rise of about 1.7%, reaching nearly $97 a barrel, with the more actively traded November WTI contract also experiencing an uptick.
The prospect of diplomatic engagement between US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian at the UN gathering has captured significant attention. Further disruptions have emerged in Libya, where an armed group reportedly shut a valve on the Sharara crude pipeline, reducing production at the country’s largest oilfield by approximately 200,000 barrels per day.
