Oman’s Minister of Heritage and Tourism, Sayyid Ibrahim Said Al Busaidi, recently embarked on a strategic visit to Italy to explore avenues for enhancing cooperation in tourism development and heritage preservation. His meetings with Italian officials and specialized institutions aimed to leverage Italy’s expertise in these areas to benefit Oman’s burgeoning tourism sector.
During his visit, Al Busaidi engaged in discussions with the Italian Alpine Club and Renco Company, focusing on the development of mountain and adventure tourism in Oman. The talks centered around incorporating Italian expertise in trail development and related services, which could diversify and enrich Oman’s tourism offerings, particularly in adventure tourism.
The minister’s itinerary included a visit to the Colosseum Archaeological Park, where he met with the management team to discuss archaeological site preservation, heritage management, and visitor experience enhancement. Both sides considered potential exchanges of expertise and professional development opportunities to improve these areas in Oman.
In a bid to promote sports tourism, Al Busaidi also met representatives from Inter Milan to explore collaborations that could showcase Oman’s tourism attractions to a broader international audience. This is part of Oman’s strategy to utilize sports as a medium to boost its tourism profile globally.
Additionally, Al Busaidi attended a presentation about the Italian tourism market, seeking to strengthen Oman’s presence in Italy. Meetings with Italian media organizations were also part of his visit, focusing on highlighting Oman’s rich cultural heritage, historical sites, and diverse tourism experiences to the Italian public.
This initiative is a component of Oman’s broader strategy to expand international partnerships, attract visitors from key markets, and draw on global expertise to develop tourism products while safeguarding its cultural heritage. By engaging with Italy, Oman aims to enrich its tourism landscape and preserve its cultural assets for future generations.
