In a move to bolster diplomatic ties, Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman has embarked on a state visit to Botswana, underscoring the importance of international relations between the Middle Eastern nation and the African country. This two-day visit reflects both countries’ commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation and exploring potential areas of mutual benefit.
The Sultan was welcomed by Botswana’s President, Duma Gideon Boko, upon his arrival at Sir Seretse Khama International Airport in Gaborone. The official reception was marked by a 21-gun salute and a guard of honour, highlighting the significance of the Omani leader’s visit. Such ceremonies often signify respect and the fostering of goodwill between nations.
