Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi are among those expected to receive visas for the assembly. However, their movements will be limited to certain locations, including the UN headquarters, Iran’s UN mission, and its ambassador’s residence, reflecting Washington’s consistent approach to managing Iranian officials’ presence on US soil.
This development occurs against the backdrop of intermittent diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving the conflict that erupted on February 28. Contrasting with its decision on Iran, the US has opted to deny entry to Palestinian officials for the General Assembly, including Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
